Events - sharing, listing, searching

what is planned with events support in Friendica?

I noticed that there is some events functionality but not sure if people can yet share the actual events. (either directly or via a linked status item)

I'm keen to set up some way (that is easy for anyone) to share actual event data across sites (also with city/venue/etc info to help people find public events that might interest them in their area - something to make "social" *really* more SOCIAL!)

Yes, you can already create events and everyone who is among the contacts you directed the event to will see them in their Friendica calendar.

People who want to take an event out of their calendar can delete it, but there's no possiblity yet to tell the OP if you will attend or not. That's on the wishlist, Mike's looking for a developer who wants to do that as he's too much into other stuff.

Regarding attendees .. could that possibly be handled as some kind of reply? .. eg like "likes" .. looking at the tables in mysql I suspect this might be possible.

yes .. I am interested .. maybe its time for me to explore git a little more...

Yes, events can be commented and liked just like any other network message. But there is no overview anywhere that says who will attend and who won't. Of course, it's possible to tell people in the post to like it if they will attend, but that's not really very nice.

@ Mike talked about new message types for RSVP etc, but maybe this can really be done just by creating a differing UI for likes/dislikes …

It would likely have been smart to share this with @ Friendica Developers

We DO have an events calendar, and you can enter events and either keep them private or share them.

When shared, they appear at the top of the networks stream under the "events reminders" link. I see all the time reminders for @ Waitman Gobble 's photo shoot events, for instance (why he makes these public, I do not know).

"rsvp-maybe", "rsvp-yes", "rsvp-no" with object-type "Event" maybe?

Logged into github..(actually reset my password -turned out my email was already registered.
I guess I must have created that account ages ago and forgot about it!)

...not sure where to start with it though.
In all these years I haven't really explored git beyond running "git clone" from the shell to checkout code I was interested in.

pulled it from the git .. looks promising .. it has some of those extra fields I want here.

at the front end I'd probably prefer a listings view showing them more like normal posts but in order of the event dates .. but maybe the user could have both options.

webdav/iCal is definately a nice feature too! (wishing there might one day be a client that could do locations for venues or even tags!)
