"As absurd as it may sound, the State of Israel does not actually recognize an Israeli nationality. In fact, the state has on several occasions argued in court that no such a nationality exists."

Would be funny if it wasn't sad.

\#^[url=https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/06/uganda-introduces-social-media-tax-criticism-180630180322121.html] Uganda introduces social media tax despite criticism[/ur]
Frank Tumwebaze, the minister of information technology and communications, defended the move to impose the tax, saying the revenue generated would improve internet services. "If we tax essentials like water, why not social media?" he said. "This tax will improve connectivity. It is all about connectivity.”

Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power for 32 years, has spoken dismissively about social media users and said the tax was aimed at dealing with the consequences of online "gossip".

A February 2015 draft of the secret Trade In Services Agreement (TISA) was leaked again last week, revealing a more extensive and more recent text than that of portions from an April 2014 leak that we covered last year. Together with the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), TISA completes a trifecta of trade agreements that the administration could sign under Fast Track without full congressional oversight.

messagepack

http://msgpack.org/

came across it while looking for more compact ways to serialize data
I wanted something like perl's storable but wanted to also be able to use the same data in php

seems to be nice and compact when serializing multi-level hashes/assoc arrays/etc
(its a binary format that is more compact than json, etc)

trying it with this in perl:

http://search.cpan.org/~gfuji/Data-MessagePack-0.48/lib/Data/MessagePack.pm

(nice easy cpan install)

and in php:

https://github.com/onlinecity/msgpack-php

thats a pure php version.
theres also another implementation (a php extension) which might be faster but wanted to try it before going to the hassle of installing php extensions.

@perl
@php
