Who's running for president (on the sides)?

On Republican side:
  • Donald Trump (of course)
  • (No-one else officially announced yet, or even spoke publicly about probably running for president)
On Democratic side:
  • Julian Castro (D - TX)
  • Tulsi Gabbard (D - HI)
  • John Delaney (D - MD)
  • Richard Ojeda (D - WV)
Rumoured to be running (only Democrats):
  • Elizabeth Warren (D - MA) (I thought she already announced her candidacy)
  • Kirsten Gillibrand (D - NYS)
  • Michael Bloomberg (D - NYC) (He's later, he could've run earlier)
  • Kamala Harris (D - CA)
  • Cory Brooker (D - NJ)

How #Trump's stubborn consistency could affect his 2020 election outcome

Even during the 2016 Republican primaries, a majority of voters opposed deporting all undocumented immigrants in all but two of the 20 states where exit polls asked their opinion. Yet the minority of voters that supported deportation backed Drumpf in such preponderant numbers that they provided a majority of his votes in all but two of the 20 states.

The same pattern was evident in the general election. In the exit poll, just 41 percent of voters supported Drumpf’s border wall, while a solid majority of 54 percent opposed it. Yet Drumpf won a much higher share of the wall’s supporters (85 percent) than Hillary Clinton did of the wall’s opponents (76 percent). Roughly one-fourth of the wall’s opponents either voted for Drumpf (16 percent) or drifted away to a third-party candidate (8 percent).

In the exit poll, 18 percent of the college-educated whites who oppose... show more

Beto O'Rourke speaking with from near the border in unusual situations

Introducing viewers to Diana, his dental hygienist, O’Rourke asked her what she wanted people to know about the border, as President Donald Drumpf continues to press for funding for a border wall.
“It’s a beautiful community,” the woman said. “We all support each other. We love each other. And it’s not what everybody else thinks badly about us. It’s actually a wonderful place to live and grow up.”

Elizabeth Warren starts presidential campaign race in #Iowa

During a Saturday morning event in Sioux City, audience members were given the chance to ask the Massachusetts senator questions. The first? A query about her decision to take a DNA test and release the results on her Native American ancestry.

After the question from the audience member, Warren on Saturday told Iowan voters that the test wasn't meant to show any claim to a tribe and said she understood and respected the difference between ancestry and tribal citizenship. She said after the attacks she merely just wanted to "put it all out there."

Elizabeth Warren candidates for presidency in 2020

Others, including some of Warren’s fellow senators, are also getting ready to make announcements of their own, and some are expected within days, according to the Washington Post.

I hope that the others are going to announce their candidacy soon as well. The sooner you start to gather money and sound for your election, the better it is. They are going to face an important election, they will have to kick out the orange buffoon and tidy up the mess the toddler with a constant temper tantrum has created.

“I’ve spent my career getting to the bottom of why America’s promise works for some families, but others, who work just as hard, slip through the cracks into disaster,” Warren, 69, says in the video. “And what I’ve found is terrifying: these aren’t cracks families are falling into, they’re traps. America’s middle class is under attack.”

#Democrats arm up for campaign rallies

All four are likely to spend considerable time and money in 2019 competing with one another to answer the strong yearning from Democrats for new leadership, and they don’t want to lose a step to a rival fresh face, such as Representative Beto O’Rourke, the former Texas Senate candidate who has been the focus of intense speculation in recent weeks as a potential presidential candidate.

But still, he's not the strongest potential candidate for the Democratic presidential candidate, just saying. He's the third strongest, behind Joe Biden and someone completely different.

And they might well scramble the early polling leads held by Mr. Biden and Mr. Sanders, who benefit from strong name recognition but would be in their late 70s by Election Day 2020, at a moment when some in the party are agitating for generational change.

We need younger candidates!

What do #Democrats want?

Landing at the top of the list of 11 options was “someone entirely new” – perhaps a prospect not on the political radar screen yet. Nearly six in 10 of those surveyed – 59 percent – said they would be “excited” about a candidate like that; only 11 percent said they’d prefer that a new face not run.

To say that you wanted someone entirely new, but were unable to drop a name of this someone, is like not saying anything without expressing exactly this. Just saying…

That said, close behind was Joe Biden, the opposite of someone entirely new. Biden, now 76, was a veteran senator from Delaware before he served two terms as President Barack Obama’s vice president. He’s weighing whether to make his third bid for the Democratic nomination; 53 percent said they would be excited about that, while 24 percent urged him not to run.

So, at least this was nothing new. But som... show more

#Israel heads towards electiosn on April 9., 2019

A 2019 electoral campaign was inevitable, in fact. Netanyahu’s four-year mandate runs out in November 2019, but Monday’s unforeseen move became inescapable when Netanyahu was unable to muster the necessary votes to pass a popular law levying heavier fines against orthodox Jewish seminary students who dodge Israel’s otherwise universal draft of 18-years-olds on religious grounds.

#California prepares for general election in 2020

It’s fueled by perceptions both inside and outside the state that California’s brand of unapologetic progressivism has moved into the mainstream of the party after years of being dismissed nationally as a zany laboratory for far-left dreamers.

Doesn't sound like something to complain about, I must admit. I like California, although it was once governed by an Austrian whose most famous role was as a murderous cyborg with a southern Bavarian accent.

“For the first time in a major way, Latinos have a real opportunity to play a huge role in deciding early who the Democratic nominee will be,” de León said of the early maneuvering. “Midwest and East Coast candidates will be forced to brush up on their high school Spanish very quickly. West Coast and Southwestern candidates can have an advantage if they play it right — but it’s not automatic.”

#Senate about to read the report on Russian trolls colluding general election 2016

"The first objective of the Russians was to sow doubt, discord and discontent in this country, and they've succeeded to it fairly well -- capitalizing and exploiting the polarization and divisiveness in this country," Clapper said.
[...]
"They had messages for everybody in the campaign, whether it was Black Lives Matter, white supremacists, gun control advocates, Second Amendment advocates," he said. "The Russians are always looking for issues to exploit to their advantage."

Good to know that we finally have a report stating the same thing that every regular internet frequenter could have told you if he didn't jump upon the #Trump train already. But well, the senate relies on verified data, so that was merely a formula necessary to seal everything.

Joe #Biden most preferred #Democrat, Bernie #Sanders runner-up

Outgoing Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke, who lost a Senate race last month, is in third place, at 11 percent. Slightly behind him are Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth #Warren at 8 percent, and California Sen. Kamala #Harris at 5 percent.

In the end, Beto O'Rourke might be a little bit too progressive, too idealist, without a major hinge of realism. This is where Bernie Sanders is a bit ahead, and Joe Biden is a man of experience, he has a long time of working as a politician. I don't know how much this applies to Mr. Sanders, he is a classical Socialist, if you want to call it like this.

Oblivious elections - part III: #Armenia

#Pashinyan’s party is expected to get a majority in the new legislature, allowing him to push ahead with his campaign to reshape the South Caucasus nation’s political landscape and spark an “economic revolution”.
Last week, Pashinyan – who is acting prime minister – promised “the best elections Armenia has ever seen”, without ballot-stuffing or voter intimidation.

At least there are examples of elections that don't end up in a massacre on the voters, such as it happens in Afghanistan, where the votes are still not counted to the end, including all the flaws of the election, the corruption that runs through it. In Armenia, this doesn't seem to have happened, although believing that no new crooks would fill the space is naive.

The #US elections are corrupted, no matter what you think or say

North Carolina law requires two witnesses to sign the envelopes of the absentee ballots. Usually, those witnesses are family members or friends. Investigators in North Carolina are looking into allegations that Dowless' group picked up unsealed ballots and either witnessed them and turned them in or threw them away.

So, therei s a possibility that those voting aides simply threw absentee ballots away? For God's sake, how dare they? Elections are flawed, we would better revolve the idea of a state to assure safety for its people, and general order. People are responsible enough to care for themselves alone, we don't need either one, neither a state, nor hierarchial companies that oppress you and force you into work. Thanks a lot for your efforts.

On #Warren's and #Sanders' ideas for their future als probable Democratic presidents

He mentioned China only three times: twice as a potential partner in fighting climate change and once as a potential partner in denuclearizing North Korea.

Well, the denuclearisation is not going to happen in the near future, as long as you don't come up with a working plan on denuclearising N Korea. Also, telling us that China was an apparent partner in fighting climate change is a ridiculty of an unmeasurable scale. China is one of the greatest polluters of this planet, constantly building further coal plants. How would you tell them that they had to build fewer of them, and instead relying on renewable energies? Neither you, nor us have got any measurements against them, because they would cause a decrease of our luxury, something no-one is ready to give up on.

#Taiwan election delivered first (unofficial) results

#Tsai's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) lost mayoral elections in key cities to the opposition Kuomintang (KMT), or Nationalist Party. The DPP lost its stronghold of Kaohsiung, the southern port city where it had held power for more than 20 years, during the nationwide vote Saturday for local posts.

To be honest, this result was hard for me to not be entitled with a clickbait-like headline. But seriously, even the battered isle of Taiwan fell for nationalist appeals? This is sad, they could become a stronghold for such intentions too, just like the surrounding world. It would be hard for them to not move closer to their People's Republic's counterpart. We will have to view the progress there.

#Israeli group uncovered attempted murder plot in #Georgia

CGI Group, a business intelligence and security consultancy company owned by Israeli businessman Zvika Naveh, and headed by former Shin Bet director and former minister Yaakov Peri, was hired by the ruling party several months ago to seek information about corrupt behavior of candidates from the rival party, or any other pieces of information that could sway public opinion in favor of #Vashadze.

Well, we can be glad they uncovered this plot before it was too late. Thanks a lot, now let the elections go on to see who it is to rule this country which is sadly known for its most famous citizen.

Oblivious elections - this time: #Georgia

Opinion polls before the election suggested that no one of the 25 candidates was likely to receive the absolute majority needed to win in the first round. If no one wins outright, a runoff between the top two candidates is to be held by Dec. 1.

Well, when there are 25 probable candidates to race against each other, how are they really supposed to gain an absolute majority? I mean, of course there are many candidates for the position of the chancellor in Germany too, but only a few are really about to even gain enough attention to be voted, but as the NYT states it here, they are all equally measured to do it. Thus my confusion. Wouldn't it be enough to gain a third of all votes? Among 25 choices, an absolute majority is impossible to be gained.

Is Mike #Pence about to fall off the ticket?**

But some #Drumpf advisers, primarily outside the White House, have suggested to him that while Mr. Pence remains loyal, he may have used up his utility. These advisers argue that Mr. Drumpf has forged his own relationship with evangelical voters, and that what he might benefit from more is a running mate who could help him with female voters, who disapprove of him in large numbers.

Just imagine the pseudo-Christian mysogynist would fall out of the ticket and be replaced by someone else. The irony would reach a big time.

The New York Times: Is Mike Pence Loyal? Trump Is Asking, Despite His Recent Endorsement (By MAGGIE HABERMAN and KATIE ROGERS)

All the work for nothing

Election boards across the state have been using voting machines to recount ballots this week, with some of the larger counties working all day and through the night. The Senate and agricultural commissioner races are now headed to hand reviews of overvotes and undervotes, a more narrowly circumscribed but also potentially volatile pool of votes.

And the worst of it all is that you still have to hear those whiny snowflake asses of the right that say that the Democrats had corrupted the election by filing lawsuits to add votes that didn't exist, although any of them possibly has never volunteered in vote counting. But hey, badmouthing without evidences has gained their favoured president the White House, so what?

Don't boo - vote (in the EU Elections 2019)

YouVoteEU 2019 is an on-line platform which enables voters to cast their own votes on a sample of 25 real decisions in the European Parliament in the last five years and see which members of parliament, national parties and political party groups in the parliament match their own views.

Still, my first intention to get more people into voting on this important election is, firstly, to promote it a little bit more, for example on TV or on the internet. When you don't closely follow EU policies, you will hardly find out even the date of the election. It simply doesn't reach the people.
Moreover, you need to do more, create more significant impacts on everyday life in the member states. There's a reason why people turn their backs on the EU, and it's not only lies on Russia's behalf. It's also the matter of fact that the EU stays in the background all the time and only comes into mind when it comes to ridiculous bureaucracy, or fraud of any kind. It needs a stronger PR department.

Today's Midterms Day!

Trump bears much of the responsibility. His approval rating has plunged, by double digits, in most Midwestern states. His presidency has energized the Democratic base in ways Hillary Clinton never could. His party’s rewrite of the tax code was disproportionately beneficial to wealthy people and corporations; to the extent the law is popular with voters, he barely tries to promote it. And his trade warring has been particularly burdensome to farmers, manufacturers and blue-collar workers in the Rust Belt, with numerous Republicans from affected states, including Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and National Republican Congressional Committee chairman Steve Stivers of Ohio, pleading privately with Trump and his aides to find resolution.

His entire presidency so far in a nutshell.
And still. Anthony Scaramucci, the president's servant for all time, would not hesitate to call him a blue-collar-president. Idiots will be idiots at all costs.
