Tucker Carlson Picks A Fight With Elmo-AND LOSES!

https://youtu.be/j9BKFlMkQdE #TheRingOfFire 6/10/20
Even though #Elmo is a puppet, he still emerged as the victor in the fight against Carlson. Tucker is furious that #SesameStreet aired a special about the protests and explained what's happening in this country, and few people were convinced by his abnormal arguments that he was correct, thereby making Elmo the default winner.

Rep. Steve King (R - IA) uncertain about whether a white society was superior to a nonwhite one

“I don’t have an answer for that. That’s so hypothetical,” Mr. King, Republican of Iowa, told her. “I’ll say this, America is not a white society — it has never been a completely white society. We came here and joined the Native Americans.”

I wouldn't call a genocidal commitment and the full displacement of Natives from their homeland joining.

Mr. King again faced scrutiny on Monday after a post on his Facebook page speculated who would win a second civil war between red states and blue states.

On Tuesday, pressed by a reporter from CNN, Mr. King told constituents that he “wasn’t aware” that the image had been published on his Facebook page the night before, and said he does not personally manage that page.

Indonesia intends to ban AUS Sen. Fraser Anning to enter

”As I condemned the terrorist acts in two mosques in Christchurch, I also strongly condemned the official statement of Senator Fraser Anning of Queensland who basically assumed that terrorism against mosques was a price worth paying [by]Muslims and that Islam is an 'ideology of violence',” Charles said on Saturday evening.

An Indonesian national identified as Lilik Abdul Hamid was killed when a gunman opened fire during Friday prayers at the mosques in Christchurch. Two other Indonesians were injured. A right-wing Australian extremist, identified as Brenton Tarrant, has been arrested in connection with the attack. (ipa)

The mysterious deaths of two young BLM protesters in Ferguson, Missouri

Police say there is no evidence the deaths have anything to do with the protests stemming from a white police officer’s fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, and that only two were homicides with no known link to the protests.

— Edward Crawford Jr., 27, fatally shot himself in May 2017 after telling acquaintances he had been distraught over personal issues, police said. A photo of Crawford firing a tear gas canister back at police during a Ferguson protest was part of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage.

Bush said her car has been run off the road, her home has been vandalized, and in 2014 someone shot a bullet into her car, narrowly missing her daughter, who was 13 at the time.

Donald Trump not a white supremascist, says acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney

Wallace asked if Drumpf has considered making a major speech “condemning anti-Muslim, white supremacist bigotry?” because of the criticism he has faced.
“The president is not a white supremacist. I’m not sure how many times we have to say that,” Mulvaney replied.

This doesn't answer the question, though; when is Trump going to speak out decidedly against racism, Islamophobia, bigotry and discrimination of minorities? When?

“And to simply ask the question every time something happens overseas or even domestically, to say, ‘oh my goodness, it must somehow be the president’s fault,’ speaks to a politicization of everything that I think is undermining sort of the institutions that we have in the country today,” Mulvaney added.

Fox News rebukes its host Jeanine Pirro for comment on Omar

"We strongly condemn Jeanine Pirro's comments about Rep. Ilhan Omar," Fox News said in a statement. "They do not reflect those of the network and we have addressed the matter with her directly."

Pirro suggested on her Saturday show that Omar's beliefs about Israel stem from her religion. Omar is Somali-American and a practicing Muslim who wears a religious head-covering called a hijab.

The officer is then joined by other officers and the man and the officers appear to be yelling at each other. The video ends with all the officers walking away.

"The officer detained the man to investigate further and made a request over the radio for additional assistance to respond, indicating that the person was uncooperative and unwilling to put down a blunt object."

On the (actual) crisis at the border

More than 76,000 migrants were apprehended crossing the southern border last month, the highest February in more than 10 years and the highest month of the Drumpf administration. The number of apprehensions tops any month during the 2014 border surge under President Barack Obama, which no one had a problem calling a crisis at the time.

There is no mechanism to return these migrants home, to hold them after they cross the border, or to remove them once they are in the interior. And word has gotten out. There’s a reason that the subset of migrants that we can’t stop from getting into the country is rapidly growing.

We should question why there is no such mechanism to return them. Because then, we would get to the actual crisis: The irresponsibility of the US ( country founded by immigrants) when it comes to safely returning those people. In the past, they used to simply tell them that they wouldn't get in, and to return from where they've come from. This indeed is irresponsible, regarding the s... Show more...

Fired police officer sentenced to 25 years in jail for manslaughter

They found the 41-year-old Raja guilty Thursday of manslaughter and attempted murder for the 2015 death of Corey Jones. He faces a sentence of between 25 years and life. Aronberg declined to comment on the specifics of the case until the April 26 sentencing.

Raja was in plain clothes and driving an unmarked white van when he drove the wrong way up a darkened ramp to Jones' stalled SUV. Prosecutors said an audio recording showed Raja never identified himself and approached Jones aggressively, making him believe he was being robbed.

Apparently, the man was black, which infuriated the sentenced police officer even more.

Detroit man files lawsuit for gardening while being African-American

Peeples alleges that the women — Deborah Nash, Martha Callahan and Jennifer Morris — had their own plans for the park and wanted to see him "incarcerated or seriously injured by law enforcement."

I guess those women thought that he should be picking cotton somewhere in dem ol' cotton fields back home. Gardening is a job made for Meheecans.

Two months later, as Peeples was in Hunt Park teaching a group of home-schooled students about gardening, one of the women called 911 and falsely reported that Peeples was a convicted pedophile and wasn't legally allowed near kids, the complaint said. Police arrested Peeples in the park.

Seriously, what is wrong with those women?

Comment on the Laquan McDonald case and Jason Van Dyke's sentence

Why now? Because one fact sits there, for me, and vibrates. It has all along, and while I can’t vouch that it hasn’t been highlighted somewhere in the Niagara of articles and podcasts and TV specials and shadow puppet theater devoted to the case, I didn’t notice it and it seems germane now that Raoul is seeking to pile years of prison upon Van Dyke, which will neither reform the ex-cop, assuage the clannish moral blindness of a significant chunk of his former fellow officers, nor revive the dead teen.

Remember, he wasn’t a bigot shooting up a bar, or a commander torturing suspects. He was a cop, working. A scared cop, sure. Judgment impaired, obviously. Three years isn’t much for a life, and those who point out that it being a black life means some people value it a lot less are not wrong.

An obituary to the famous Ragitime composer Scott Joplin

He would come to be revered as a ragtime giant, writing such hits as “Gladiolus Rag,” “The Entertainer” and “Maple Leaf Rag.”

Just a teenager, a baby-faced and well-mannered Scott went out in the world, boarding rumbling trains with a steely determination to find gigs in a segregated landscape.

His signature style emerged as a combination of jumpy timing and sweet-sounding piano work. In a widely quoted description, Stark himself would say Joplin possessed “the skill of a Beethoven with the sentiment of a Black Mamma’s croon.” It was a way of saying that Joplin mixed a European classic sensibility with black folkloric music — by way of the piano.

News on MLK Day and Martin Luther King's legacy in today's politics

1. Racism on affiliated news broadcasts

Drumpf, who in the past has compared immigrants to a bowl of Skittles in which some of the candies were poisoned, was quickly slammed on social media:

It's not like he seriously had a problem with immigration or racism, I wouldn't say that, but... First, he compared immigrants to a bowl of skittles, and now to animals caged inside a zoo, surrounded by fences. One may be lucky to not have heard what animal in specific. This could have become even nastier.

Check the responses and you will see with which kind of POTUS/FLOTUS family we have to deal. It's terrifying, the South has taken over the White House.

Michelle #Bolsonaro, wife to president-elect Jair Bolsonaro, signs inauguration speech

You know what is funny about one of the comments that was talking about the hypocritical media who only showed the two kissing, as if nothing else had happened? The AFP news agency is one of the major sources to many news outlets when it comes to gathering news to report. You can see it either in the beginning of a report - mostly, it's mentioned in brackets - or in the bottom of the text, they often mention their sources there. Thus, talking about the media is talking about #AFP as well. Thus, the allegation of hypocrisy is bullshit. You were commenting on the media.

As for those who thereby claim what a gentle man he was, what a fortune to his country, you'd better remember his numerous comments proving you all wrong, unless you are fascist sympathisers.

On daily racism - scientifically approached

In one experiment, Zhao and Biernat had participants—about 850 white American citizens recruited through Amazon’s Mechanical Turk platform, which researchers often use to pay subjects small sums in exchange for completing tasks—imagine the famous scenario of the “trolley problem,” in which an out-of-control train is about to run over five people on the tracks; pulling a lever to divert it would save them, but kill a helpless individual on another track. The identities of the five and the one were varied—for instance, the individual was referred to as either an Asian immigrant named Xian, an Asian immigrant named Mark, or a white male named Mark.

As is typical of trolley-problem studies, a majority of subjects said they’d pull the lever, but the name of the individual played a role in the decision. The shares of participants who decided to sacrifice the white Mark and the Asian Mark were about 68 percent and 70 percent, respectively; subjects were more likely to divert... Show more...

Refugees ante portas!

Just after midnight, Red Cross workers pick up a 28-year-old man, an African migrant. His pulse is weak and his breathing is shallow classic symptoms of hypothermia. The altitude is 6,000 feet and it's 10 degrees Fahrenheit, but he's not even wearing a jacket — just a hoodie, jeans and sneakers. One of his rescuers, Alessia Amendola, pours him some hot tea.

I thought they made it down to Canossa again, where they waited before the doors for Matteo Salvini to let them in again, to have mercy with them. Just saying...

He too has hypothermia, and possibly frostbite on his hands and feet. For a moment, he wakes up and says his name — Seidu. He's from Senegal. He says he's 14.

Does Mr. Salvini even know who is going to be refused to be granted asylum? This is premeditated murder.

To understand why migrants are taking such deadly risks to leave Italy, look no further than the country's vice premier and interior minister, Matteo Salvini. In late November, his government passed a law that eliminat... Show more...

Everyday Racism in the #US

DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Portland tweeted Saturday they have "terminated the employment of the two men involved." They said the men's actions "were inconsistent with our standards & values." The hotel didn't identify the employees.

To say they terminated him sounds like they executed him in the backyard of their hotel. Get him out and shoot him right on sight. Even though I despise racists, this would be a rather unusual method to get rid of such some people.

The security guard told Massey that if he could not provide a room number, he would be asked to leave. The Washington state resident left with an officer, according to a police report.

On the border patrol custody facilities

She added: "They are designed and meant for punishment and deterrence, and this is nothing unique about this administration. These [Customs and Border Protection] facilities have been nasty and ugly since I started this work."

Now, we still have to reflect the fact that these facilities have been built even before Obama has become president, am I right? We're not talking about the ICE, but about the border patrol. What can we say about this, nonetheless? That no sitting president cared about the conditions in which people have been taken custody. Neither Mr. Obama, nor Donnie, nor anyone before these two. It's terrifying.

"We've seen this coming," she said. "When you take a child and you put them into a facility that's cold, and they don't get proper sleep because the lights are on, and they have risk of infection from open toilets, it's a really bad combination of things that could really result in some very sick children."

Throwback: Trumpist border patrol agents commit sabotage to refugees' water lets

Volunteers found water gallons vandalised 415 times, on average twice a week, in an 800 sq mile patch of Sonoran desert south-west of Tucson, from March 2012 to December 2015, the report said. The damage affected 3,586 gallons.

The report, published by No More Deaths and La Coalición de Derechos Humanos, said wildlife – as well as hunters, hikers and border militia members – also damaged aid drops. But it said the main culprits were agents from border patrol, a branch of Customs and Border Protection, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security.

If wildlife damaged the water lets to drink it themselves, I would be less upset than about border patrol agents, who poured the water away so that no-one, let alone the help-seeking refugees, drank it.

Tucker #Carlson's a racist, how surprising

The comments were quickly followed by a wave of backlash on social media with many calling on companies to pull their advertisements from the program, which led to a number of advertisers announcing they would pull support from the program. Among those included in the exodus: the IHOP restaurant chain, personal finance website NerdWallet and Pacific Life insurance.

Let's see how long it takes for Faux News to expel him; he deserves to be fired, since he has nothing to fear; Donnie would be happy to employ him for one of his soon-to-be-vacant ministries or departments.
