However I think I may do it better so I am ready for an Extra Round Three!

LUKS on LVM

#System76 folks, if anyone of you can hear me...

Why don't I see this option on Pop! 19.04

https://pop.system76.com/docs/disk-encryption-luks/

I was able to create a LVM group but I can't encrypt it nor I see the option above on the installer. Any comments or suggestions?

Thanks! #System76

Just waiting

I just posted the second article. I have to back-up my data and install a second hard-drive and because the little spare time available this is not going to go very fast...

System76 firmware update

Since my first (and unique) System76 laptop purchase I have never had a kind word for this company. I have been always complaining about their policy to support just Ubuntu... However it seems they did some steps toward to non Ubuntu or Pop_os users, in fact I was able to update the firmware just with a usb iso (pop_os!) in demo mode and everything worked totally fine as described in their documentation.

At least for one time System76 were been able to let me say something positive about you! 🍻

Linux Ultrabook with high battery life

I want to experiment with a new Linux Ultrabook. The Dell XPS looks interesting but I'm annoyed at how much the website hides and directs away. I'm hoping that #System76 has gotten ultra book battery up to 7-8 hours in normal use.

Was away for a few days and the #BIOS #battery was low I guess. So my #desktop booted up and some odd, troubling little things happened. The OS kept insisting a non-existent floppy disk was there. Finally figured out that the BIOS default was to sort of assume there is a floppy drive. I guess floppies are old enough that they don't trigger PnP interactions or something.

I fixed that (and popped in a new battery). Everything's fine. But when something like that happens I go rooting around and cleaning house. Now I want a whole new #computer. I am going to look into building my own "mini"... One of those new-fangled things with no fan and a tiny MoBo. All solid state. No moving parts! Living the dream. But I like the idea of keeping my old drives around fo... Show more...
