Is #Tails secure?
Maybe you remember the story that Facebook helped the FBI to hack a pedo: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/v7gd9b/facebook-helped-fbi-hack-child-predator-buster-hernandez
It’s still not clear which #exploit
they used but I know how it worked. Tails is routing via #Tor
your traffic through the #onion
network for #anonymity
. All this is working on the same computer. So you have a device which is connected with the Internet. I call it clearnet because it's not the onion network. Then you have the Tor service which gives you a virtual device where you can connect your browser to the onion network. The Tor service is routing your virtual device over your network hardware device which is connected to the clearnet.
The exploit was inside a video file. This was opened with the gnome video player. The exploit was used to get root access. With root access you can send everything you want over the network hardware device to the clearnet. So easy was it to get the IP. I think this is a #security
and Tails can't protect you from this #attack
You need another computer maybe a raspberry pi. You connect it to the internet and install the Tor service. Open the Wifi so that you can connect via the WiFi to the onion network. The other computer with your browser even with the network hardware device has only one chance: connecting to the onion network.TL;DRYour browser and Tor should run on different computers for your security.
