Erciyes Volcano, Cappadocia by Dan
The highest mountain in Central Anatolia at 3,916 meters was named by Strabo as Ἀργαῖος (Argaeos), and it is from that word that the current Turkish name of the volcano derives (Erciyes Dağı). The first reported climb in the modern era dates to 1837.
