The world-famous painting- "The Truth coming out of the well" Jean-Léon Gérôme, 1896.

According to a 19th-century legend, the Truth and the Lie meet one day. The Lie says to the Truth: "It's a marvelous day today"! The Truth looks up to the skies and sighs, for the day was really beautiful. They spend a lot of time together, ultimately arriving beside a well. The Lie tells the Truth: "The water is very nice, let's take a bath together!" The Truth, once again suspicious, tests the water and discovers that it indeed is very nice. They undress and start bathing. Suddenly, the Lie comes out of the water, puts on the clothes of the Truth, and runs away. The furious Truth comes out of the well and runs everywhere to find the Lie and to get her clothes back. The World, seeing the Truth naked, turns its gaze away, with contempt and rage.
The poor Truth returns to the well and disappears forever, hiding the... Show more...
10 Things You Didn't Know About André The Giant. Most people's were impressed by André the Giant. He didn't even needed to do wrestling, his only presence impressed people's. They often show him with 5.5 feet people's to make him look bigger, he was 7.8 feet tall. He was taller than most wrestlers. The sports for him was basicly trying not to kill his opponents with one hand, the challenge was not to win the battle but to avoid killing instantly other wrestlers with a punch. Their was professionalism in it, what they did was dangerous. Various wrestlers died in History, André success was not killing anyone. I do not want to insult by claiming he was Neanderthal, but I studied History and noticed they had similar skulls and caracteristics. Any Historian and Archeologist who know the caracteristics in detail, reading the symptoms of gigantism would think it's a Neanderthal description if nothing is mentionned. They were the giants of the past. We have similar differences with Africans and other races of Sapiens in skull caracteristics, perhaps not in size. It's not... Show more...

I wrote a story that became a legend, then discovered it wasn’t true

In 2003, with what felt like an angel on my shoulder, I wrote a story that became a myth. It was a once-in-a-lifetime piece. An emblem for human courage in the face of adversity, and an inspiration…

Famous designer Karl Lagerfeld dead at 85

Over the years, the desire to move to Paris grew. After attending a Dior show in Hamburg in 1950, his mind was made up and in 1953 he and his mother moved to the fashion capital. He quickly made a name for himself: At just 20 years of age, he took first place in a fashion competition with a coat design. Yves Saint Laurent also participated, but only finished third.

Lagerfeld's landmark career move was in 1983 when then behind-the-times Chanel appointed him creative director. The designer was able to make the label appear more modern and appealing to young women, integrating new colors, modified cuts and other fabrics. Chanel without Lagerfeld? It now seems impossible.

Leadbelly - In New Orleans (House Of The Rising Sun)

My favourite version of the song, although many more people seem to enjoy The Animals' version more. That's up to them.
Have a great start of the new week, and let us all pray for a warmer weather in the Western hemisphere. :-)

An insight on El Chapo's confinement

Instead I’m asking the court to force MCC NY to respect human dignity, the First Amendment, federal regulations, and other human and civil rights.

Just in case you wondered about the US' comprehension of the state of human rights enforcement: They incarcerate human rights activists as well, but fortunately managed to move him to end his hunger strike. After reading these first chapters, I wonder if they let the same thing happen as what happened with former Irish MP Bobby Sands., but with other human rights activists.

The prison transferred Spanish-speaking staff to his unit in case he ever let something slip in his native language. This also seemed to be part of a “good cop, bad cop” routine. They vacated the cell next to his in an apparent effort to reduce his conversational options. They seemed to hope that he’d get lonely and decide to speak to prison staff.

El Chapo accused of having bribed former Mexican president Peña Nieto

After the a former top lieutenant for El Chapo testified of an alleged bribe to the former Mexican president, reporters rushed out of the courtroom, heading to file their stories.

Just imagine it was true. Then, Peña Nieto was shown to be buyable. It would be funny to imagine...

He claims Mr Zambada has survived prosecution by bribing the "entire" Mexican government, including Mr Peña Nieto and former president Felipe Calderón.

A weak claim, I guess. But it's worth the try.
