WWF conservationists say marine wildlife sanctuaries are failing to protect the seas

Europe’s marine wildlife sanctuaries are no more than “paper parks” that are failing to protect the seas, a report from conservationists has said.

European seas, from the North East Atlantic ocean to the Adriatic, are in a “poor condition”, with coastal states failing to meet targets to protect marine wildlife, a report by WWF has concluded.

My fellow Earthlings, we are in an ecological crisis, though it might be hard to see from the comfort of our conveniences and trendy eco hacks designed to sell us more things that will “save the planet” today while enabling us to stay the course of destruction. Will you be the change?
🌏The single biggest impact we have on global food and water insecurity, our health, climate change, habitat destruction, ocean dead zones, deforestation, species extinction, and water, soil, air and plastic pollution is food choice.
And, the single biggest way we can drastically reduce our overall environmental footprint while improving our health and feeding the hungry is to refuse the leading driver of all of the above by choosing vegan.
💔More than 70 billion land animals are killed annually to produce meat, dairy and eggs, while the number of aquatic animals killed annually is in the trillions.... Show more...

Regram from @environmentalist.tips Stop using single use plastics!
Shoppers worldwide are using approximately 500 billion plastic bags a year. That's a 150 bags a year for every person on earth. Over 100,000 marine creatures and over 1 million sea birds die because of plastic yearly. If you conscioulsy use plastic without trying to switch to eco-friendly resources you are responsible for marine life deaths.

Decision coincides with visit to enclosure by French marine expert Jean-Michel Cousteau

Russian authorities have decided to free nearly 100 whales held in cages in the country’s far east, according to reports.

Images of the whales, kept in cramped enclosures in a bay near the Sea of Japan port city of Nakhodka, first appeared last year, triggering a storm of criticism.

Activists say 1,100 dolphins found since January - but real figure may be 10 times higher

A record number of dolphins have washed up on France’s Atlantic coast in the last three months, many with devastating injures.

Environmental campaigners say 1,100 mutilated dolphins have been found since January, but the real figure could be 10 times higher as many bodies sink without trace. Activists warn the marine slaughter could threaten the extinction of the European dolphin population in the region.

On the hagfish, and its slimy consistence

The picture above shows a slime covered car in Oregon, America back in 2017. It was covered in hagfish slime after a truck overturned on the road. The truck was helping deliver hagfish to South Korea where they are considered a delicacy.

Teen diver discovers approx. 50,000 golf balls off #California coast

Alex Weber told NPR News in a report published on Thursday that she first discovered the golf balls while she was swimming near Pebble Beach two years ago. Weber, who was 16 at the time, said she stumbled upon the discovery in a small cove she dived in to.

Though Weber recalled there being sharks in the cove during her trips to collect more golf balls, she said the real dangers were the “golf balls flying in off the course right into the ocean where we were doing collections.”
