Do not ask Winter
For warmth and colours of life
That Spring possesses.
I wanted to title this as 'Lack of Empathy' (since that is the root to most problems), but naaah~ I'd title it with somewhat a solution instead. Coincidentally, my haiku today runs along the same notion as a popular quote from the new Joker movie (which I will not get to watch) that goes something like, "The worst part of having a mental illness is people expect you to behave as if you don't."
This haiku is just a gentle reminder that not everyone can be helped and not everyone can get back on their feet -- despite having forked out numerous efforts, seen numerous doctors (even shamans!), and pray the whole day of every day. In the end, some of them might still end up among the 'lost cause'. Some of them end up too broken to be fixed, unable to accommodate for themselves, what more for others. Of course, sometimes they do try and they do succeed, whether or not anyone noticed... but yes, they do try. (Good for you!)
So, remember to not ask too much of others.
You can't expect someone who had just been to their lover's funeral to congratulate you whole-heartedly on your newborn.
Or for someone who lost all their purpose in life to cheer you on your next big venture.
Or for someone who has been paralysed waist-down to motivate you while you cry over an agonising sprained ankle.
Be reasonable, mates! :)
