Here you find a general definition of meditation, and an easy meditation technique is explained.
Meditation is a group of mental training techniques .You can use meditation to improve mental health and capacities, and also to help improve the physical health. Some of these techniques are very simple, so you can learn them from a book or an article; others require guidance by a qualified meditation teacher.
Most techniques called meditation include these components:
1. You sit or lie in a relaxed position.
2. You breathe regularly. You breathe in deep enough to get enough oxygen. When you breathe out, you relax your muscles so that your lungs are well emptied, but without straining.
3. You stop thinking about everyday problems and matters.
4. You concentrate your thoughts upon some sound, some word you repeat, some image, some abstract concept or some feeling. Your whole attention should be pointed at the object you have chosen to concentrate upon.
5. If some foreign thoughts creep in, you just stop this foreign thought, and go back to the ob... Show more...
We are now running around in a fast-paced world that still filled with weary, confused people who seem to have missed out on the benefits of science, technology and the million and one gadgets that promised to bring easy living.

It has become all too common to hear of people complaining about feeing harassed or stressed out because of the challenges everyday life. Stress affects people from all walks of life. From the plain housewife whose is trying to balance household chores, taking care of the children and being a loving wife to her husband...to the Sales Manager overseeing a group of sales agents while trying to meet the daily sales quota...to the ever-busy executive who burns the midnight oil just to finish the product presentation in time for the deadline...to the student cramming up for the exams and tons of other schoolwork.

There are a lot of other reasons why we all come under stress. The Age of E-mails, Cellular Phones, and Microwave has not, so it seems, ushered a new time of relaxation. Like our forebears, we 21st century homo sapiens still grapple with the... Show more...
Weddings. We've all seen them. Some of us have been to one or two of them. A few probably have participated in one. However, none of us can really know what it feels like to get married until the moment arrives when one sits at the altar, with half your instincts telling you to run to the nearest exit and not look back. One can't imagine or understand what it really means to seal the deal, strap on the old ball and chain, and say goodbye to all the subtle pleasures and little freedoms that being single affords a person, not to mention the relative financial security.

The fact is, weddings cause brides and grooms insane amounts of stress and anxiety. From the moment the guy decides to propose, there's an undue amount of pressure that has to be dealt with. Selecting the perfect place, finding the right ring, and getting the mood for that particular event just right can wreak untold havoc on an otherwise normal and fully functioning mind. Of course, this is nothing compared to the stress and anxiety that comes with actually planning the wedding.

However, the fact is, the m... Show more...
Advances in science and technology have revolutionized how people live and work. The breakthroughs in 21st Century medical science have extended life expectancy rates and wiped out some of the diseases that were once thought to be incurable.

Still, these modern miracles have fallen short of eradicating two of the most troublesome conditions that have afflicted mankind: stress and anxiety. No matter how many vitamins we take, or how many fitness programs we try... absolutely no one can get immunity from life's woes.

Another health problem that poses a challenge to medical science is the silent plague of obesity. According to the U.S. Obesity Society, at least 64% of Americans are now obese or overweight. The dramatic changes in food intake or diet, the ease of transportation, and the change of work into a more sedentary activity have all contributed to the rise of obesity.

But another major factor that has been left behind in the news is the fact that stress is a contributing cause for obesity. What comes to mind when you are trying to beat the deadline? What come... Show more...

Unless you live in one of the ten states that have decriminalized recreational pot use, you probably won’t be using marijuana legally anytime soon. And even if you do live in a state that has legal weed, the drug is still illegal under federal law, which means sending marijuana through the U.S. Postal Service is a big no-no.

zoomed across to SF yesterday via the ferry from Alameda and enjoyed some gorgeous weather... did a bit of video shooting for the tv show, had crepes and blue bottle coffees, some nice walking around the park at Embarcadero and the ferry building, then back again across the lovely water (just a few shots I took while we were out)
