"Pend Oreille County Fairground R/V Park"

Kyle and I tried hard to find the campground on his map. He really didn't want to backtrack a few miles to Usk or Cusick, but after it seemed hopeless without a single bit of signage, he gave up.

We later found some signage, and there weren't any USFS campgrounds within 8 miles of Usk, so it seemed like the right choice.

Alex ended up joining us at this campground, much to my surprise. It also poured down rain for much of the night and part of the next morning.

Minimum marriage age in Idaho failed to pass House vote

“We’re going to have a small compromise here,” Wintrow told lawmakers. “If you are 16 or 17 years of age, you consent to the marriage, your parents or guardian consent and a judge or court also agrees,” then, Wintrow says, you can tie the knot.

_The bill passed out of the House Judiciary Committee to receive a full hearing. Every member of the committee but Hammett Republican Christy Zito supported the measure.__

Twenty years ago, the state saw over 500 girls get married under the age of 18. Now, that number has declined to 75.

I read this as good news -- that "61.5 percent of trips are recreational" in rural areas means 4 in 10 are not, which surprises me. Also interesting that "5- to 15-year-olds are taking 39 percent of all bike trips." Lots to build on there.

Ending energy poverty with solar power — using cryptocurrency

With a focus on rural micro-grid development, two companies partner by leveraging blockchain and Bitcoin to accelerate energy access in rural Africa.

In 2017 the International Energy Agency (IEA) confirmed that decentralized energy systems, and primarily solar, offer the lowest-cost option for electrification across Sub-Saharan Africa. This means that beyond offering an attractive, renewable and practical electricity alternative, solar can unlock critical socioeconomic development globally, improving education, healthcare, safety and human rights conditions across emerging markets.

The challenge is even deeper for projects where off-takers are not “banked,” as is the case for many rural communities in developing regions. Consequently, community-scale mini-grids are often left unfunded, despite their lucrative potential. Communities are then forced to spend more on diesel fuel and kerosene rather than on solar energy.

An example is a partnership that South Africa-based Sun... Show more...
