Skating Nathan Phillips Square in #Toronto on a +7°C day, 24 February 2020. We were sharing the ice with a group of students from a private Armenian school in Scarborough. Apparently few of them had ever skated before. They spend most of the video falling down, but at least seem to be having fun at it.
Ice #skating with @Kathryn Barr at #Landsdowne in #Ottawa yesterday. We walked the 8 km up there to do the #skate, too. This is an artificially-cooled rink, and so it was nice and hard even though it was sunny and about -4°C at the time. Non-cooled rinks might get soft at that temperature and with the bright sunshine.
I actually got to do something new this afternoon: I used ice skates as a means of transportation to get 7 km to a meeting downtown. I have skated for fun lots before, but never as a means of transportation! Apparently I missed a lot of car traffic, too.
We are in the "in-between time" here in #Ottawa. Our #sailboat is still in the water for a few more weeks, but today @Kathryn Barr and I walked up to the local arena and went #ice #skating, so #winter isn't that far away.
