31 years ago, on this day in 1988, American warship USS Vincennes shot down the Iranian passenger plain Airbus A300 IR655 that was in it's daily flight route from Bandar Abbas to Dubai, killing all 290 passenger ans crew including 66 children.
We should never forget the atrocities of the past or we are doomed to see them repeated again in our lifetime.
Still remember the day, my brothers family took that same route several times before the incident and it was like a nightmare to follow.
US was there to support Saddam and stop Iran at any cost, the US War ship was deep inside Iranian water and the plane was climbing on a pré planned commercial route with an active civilian IFF at 14000 feet when it was attacked, not an F14 faking IFF moving toward US warship as they told the world.
This is one of those stories we will never forget. Specially the indifference of the world toward this war crime, and the fact the captain received a medal for his action in Persian Gulf shortly after her murdered 290 innocent people.
