there it is- "if you don't live in a #tiny
, you're #killing
This is #dumb
. It's the same #mindset
that drives the #pro-abortion
crowd: Earth #worship
What do you do if you have....I don't know.... #Hobbies
? As in, where do I put my #piano
? my sax? my accordion? my uke? my....? How about my #knitting
supplies? don't you want me to #knit
hats for the #homeless
? what about my #library
? What about my workshop? Don't you want me to work on beautiful log furniture? Or #invent
things that save the planet? where am I supposed to put my #welding
equipment? My office? My #food
storage? what- do you want me to drive to the store and emit all that carbon every time I need to eat? what about my #dog
Ohh...right, right, right- all those things are #superfluous
. what you want is for me to go to #work
, be a #cog
in the #system
, go #home
and sleep. you don't want me to #expand
, or better the human condition, or ask questions- you just want me to #assimilate
. I get it.
Fact: most folks who live in a tiny home move into a bigger home within 2 years. how's that for wasting resources?
Another thing to think about: cost.
type size/cost sq ft cost value
tiny home 130 sq ft / $30,000 $231 / sq ft. profit when sold: 0. doesn't usually increase in value. bank probably gets a chunk.
cookiecutter home 2,000 sq ft / $180,000 $90 / sq ft profit when sold: probably about $100k, after a 30 yr mortgage. bank gets a huge chunk.
3,200 sq ft / $60,000 $19 sq ft profit when (if) sold: probably about $440,000. no bank.
for all the anti-capitalists, that $440k represents value that can be passed down to your offspring. that way, they don't have to emit more carbon making money to waste the earth's resources to build their own home in the future- they either keep it or sell it. recycling a house for use in the next generation in this way actually saves the earth. This type of log home has about a 450 year lifespan, compared to 75 years for a regular cookie-cutter home. Imagine how many trees are wasted on a 75-year lifespan house compared to a 450 year lifespan house....now multiply that by 6. 6*75 = 450 years.
Tiny houses are annoyingly cute and wonderfully impractical.www.foxnews.com
